ChapelStudents attend a parent-led chapel service once a month. This time includes worship, prayer, and a relevant teaching that serves to refresh both students and faculty and to remind them of their unity in Christ and indeed what sets them apart as a Christian school. Many students have commented that they look forward to this special time. Art FairCreativity is encouraged throughout the yearat CFC, but the students particularly look forward to displaying their uniquetalents at our school-wide art fair. Every student is encouraged to participate and awards are given just for participation. Ribbons are given for outstanding achievement with the overall winners from each class given the option of displaying their work at the ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) Regional Art Fair. Field TripsStudents go on a number of enriching field trips per year. These outings may or may not correspond with the particular area of study that semester, but the aim is that they be educational as well as enjoyable. History FairTake a trip back in time at CFC’s bi-annual History Fair. Each class is assigned period of history while each student brings a particular aspect of it to life. Costumes, art, research, and presentation are just some of the work that these students put into this outstanding day. Science FairThe CFC Science Fair is always a favorite activity among the students. It is held on a biannual rotation with the History Fair. Students learn how to use the scientific method to develop hypotheses and solve problems. All age groups get involved and contribute based on their level of ability. The most enjoyable part is the final day in which the students get to view one another’s projects. There is also an award ceremony where all of the students are congratulated and get a participation ribbon. Spelling BeeStudents participate in a yearly spelling bee within their classes. 1st and 2nd place winners go on to compete in the ACSI meet for their age groups. Middle School Adventure ClubThe Adventure Club is an opportunity for Middle School student to take part in a monthly outdoor adventure activity which takes advantage of our rich, natural resources here in East Tennessee. In the past, these students have hiked some very adventurous trails which have taken them up ladders and bluffs, down through rock tunnels, and under water falls. They have biked in the Smoky Mountains and splashed and swam in mountain streams. They have gone on overnight backpacking trips and cooked meals over an open fire. They have done some indoor rock climbing, hiked into remote mountain cabins in the winter time, and learned to follow a map and compass through dense woodlands. Devotionals are incorporated into each adventure and lessons drawn from the particular activity whenever possible. Points are awarded for each trip with an adventure patch awarded at the end of the year to those who complete a minimum of activities. Physical Educations ClassStudents are given a supervised recess period each day, which includes a variety of games and activities to help them reach their physical conditioning goals.
